‘Help at Home’ Befriending Volunteer –
Cocoon Family Support has a new project ‘Help at Home’ for volunteers to support parents across London. You will be trained to help families access services, provide support in attending meetings, support them with specific parenting issues; raising self- esteem and confidence in their parenting skills. We are especially keen to recruit volunteers who speak different community languages. If a family asks for support in your local area (you choose what areas you wish to cover) you will be asked to provide a minimum of three home visits and be available to escort the family to their first Saturday session. Volunteers will be given regular support via telephone and face to face meetings.
Full training will be provided. Next training course: Sunday 8th March.
Email support –
If you have experienced postnatal depression and would like to help someone who is currently suffering from the illness, then please do contact us. Our volunteers work by emailing the mother at regular intervals and allowing her to express many of the negative feelings that we experience when we are ill. Volunteers give sufferers very real hope that they will one day recover from the illness. They can also be of assistance to depressed mothers with practical advice about matters relating to looking after the baby while you are unwell.
You must have at least 6 months between your own recovery and when you start supporting others.
Please only apply if you have the time for regular calls and/or emails. This may be 2-3 times per week when necessary.
All volunteers will be fully trained and supported.
Social Media Volunteer –
Cocoon Family Support needs an enthusiastic volunteer to drive forward our use of social media in 2015. This is a great chance for someone with a passion for social media to put their skills to good use. The Social Media Volunteer role would be well-suited to someone with experience of social media, including using Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter. The role is home based. This is a flexible, part-time volunteering opportunity, however we would like someone to be able to dedicate a small amount of time each day. No qualifications necessary, past experience or postnatal depression preferred. Content and training will be provided.
Whatever level of responsibility you are looking for, whether its fundraising locally, organising events, take on adrenaline challenge or coordinate regional fundraising you can get involved with Cocoon Family Support.
We are looking for dedicated individuals to join Cocoon Family Support as part of our fundraising team, to help us continue the work we have started. Whether it is organising a cake sale, raffle, charity ball or sky dive, we need your help to raise the all-important funds we need.
We ask you to dedicate a minimum of 2 hours a week. This role is home based.
